The poster of the first meeting of governors of the coastal provinces of the Caspian Sea countries was unveiled in Rasht with the presence of the Governor of Gilan.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Gilan Governorate; The unveiling ceremony of the poster of the first meeting of governors of the coastal provinces of the Caspian Sea countries, which is scheduled to be held in Gilan on November 17 and 18, was held with the presence of Hadi Haghshenas, the high representative of the government in the province.

The Governor of Gilan stated at the ceremony that this meeting was approved by the government and is being held for the first time in the country, and said: Gilan will host about 14 governors, 10 ambassadors and a group of ministers and their deputies in this event, and the presence of these figures is a valuable opportunity to showcase the province’s capacities.

Haghshenas announced the adoption of the necessary arrangements for the grand holding of this meeting and, referring to Rasht’s selection as the Creative City of Food by UNESCO, added: This title is a symbol of the cultural depth of the people of Gilan and the creativity of Gilani women in the field of food is part of the historical identity of the province.

He continued: “We are trying to introduce the culture, innovation, and economic and tourism capacities of Gilan in a concise but lasting manner in this summit so that its results can be felt at the national and international levels.”

Referring to the political and economic dimensions of this event, the Governor of Gilan stated: “In a situation where the country is facing oppressive sanctions, holding such a summit in Gilan can be a clear message of the dynamism of the regional diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He noted: “The main goal of this summit is to strengthen commodity exchanges, maritime trade, and develop economic relations between the countries of the Caspian Sea basin so that Gilan becomes the main axis of regional interactions in the north of the country.”

Stating that Gilan is a unique province in terms of economic and tourism capacities, Haghshenas added: “In addition to its rich cultural background, this province also has a special place in the fields of agriculture, trade, and industry.”

He also referred to the recent visits of ambassadors from countries such as China, Poland, Kazakhstan, Iraq, and Russia to Gilan and said: These visits indicate Gilan’s growing position on the path to becoming the economic and commercial hub of the north of the country, and this opportunity should be used to develop foreign relations.

The governor of Gilan considered the increase in the export of local products such as citrus fruits and olives and the attraction of foreign tourists as the basis for the province’s economic transformation, and emphasized: Achieving these goals will put Gilan on the path to sustainable development.

Finally, referring to the importance of the Rasht-Astara railway project, he stated: The historical route of the Silk Road has been revived today in the form of a railway and can connect the Iranian economy with the northern countries and the Caspian Sea region; therefore, the Caspian Governors’ Meeting is a valuable opportunity to expand economic, cultural, and transit interactions between the northern coastal provinces of the country.
