The Deputy Minister of Legal and International Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Special Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Caspian Sea Affairs called the first meeting of governors of the coastal provinces of the Caspian Sea countries hosted by Gilan an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Gilan Governorate; Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Minister of Legal and International Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Special Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Caspian Sea Affairs, announced: Based on the resolution of the Third Caspian Economic Conference held in Tehran in February last year, the first meeting of governors of the coastal provinces of the Caspian Sea countries hosted by the Gilan Governorate will be held in Rasht on November 17 and 18.

Gharibabadi added: The governors of 10 Caspian coastal provinces from four countries, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, and the governors of the northern and southern provinces of our country, along with the ambassadors and consuls general of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the four Caspian coastal countries and the ambassadors of these countries in Tehran, will attend this meeting and will discuss and exchange views in three specialized round tables: “Economy, Investment and Regional Development”, “Transit, Logistics and Development of the North-South Corridor”, and “Environment, Fisheries and Restoration of the Caspian Sea Ecosystem”.

The Deputy Foreign Minister stated that the goal of this meeting is to provide a sustainable platform for trade, economic and transit cooperation and exchange of experiences between the coastal provinces of the Caspian Sea countries, and clarified that economic activists from the Caspian coastal countries will also have an effective participation in this meeting.
