To participate in The First Caspian Governors’ Forum, the governor of Astrakhan, Russia, arrived in Guilan and was welcomed by the governor of Guilan.
According to the public relations department of the Governor’s Office, Igor Babushkin, the head of the Astrakhan region of Russia, arrived in Guilan and was welcomed by Hadi Haghshenas, the governor of Guilan. They discussed joint cooperation in economic, trade, and transportation fields.

During their meeting, both sides emphasized the historical ties and complementary capacities of the two regions. They stressed the need to develop trade relations, strengthen land and sea transportation routes, and increase trade between Guilan and Astrakhan.
The Guilan Governor highlighted the strategic location of Anzali Port and the Astara border on the North-South Corridor. He expressed readiness to provide new areas for joint investment and sustainable exchanges.

Igor Babushkin appreciated Guilan’s hospitality and called for expanding trade relations and strengthening port and maritime cooperation between the two regions.
The delegation from the Astrakhan Region of Russia includes Ilya Volinsky, Deputy Head of the Government, Vladimir Golokov, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexey Voronkin, Deputy Head of the Governor’s Office, Roman Yadykin, Dmitry Yanchenko, Stanislav Sinchenko, and Oleg Savchenko.
The First Caspian Governors’ Forum will be held in Rasht on November 17 and 18.
