The Governor of Guilan has announced that Iran is ready to boost trade in ports along the Caspian Sea by utilizing various ports and transit routes. The Governor of Guilan , Hadi Haghshenas, expressed this statement during a panel discussion on transit, logistics, and corridor development.

Haghshenas highlighted the significant progress made in transportation infrastructure since 2014, especially after the trilateral summit between Iran, Russia, and India. He mentioned that the transportation capacity in ports like Noshahr and Anzali has significantly increased, with the ports of Amirabad also being integrated into the network.

The Governor emphasized the improvements made to the country’s roads and rail network, citing the daily influx of cargo from Azerbaijan into Astara as an example of Iran’s improved logistics capabilities. He stressed the importance of maximizing existing capacities and promoting regional and logistical cooperation with the countries bordering the Caspian Sea.

Haghshenas also underscored the role of the private sector in infrastructure development, pointing to the successful involvement of private entities in processes in Astara. He stated that investments in the region should be utilized effectively to benefit Iran and neighboring countries.

In conclusion, the Governor expressed Iran’s readiness to develop its Caspian Sea ports and strengthen regional trade connections with countries beyond the Caspian Sea, including the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and Black Sea.
