The First Caspian Governors’ Forum, involving 12 provinces from five countries in the region, commenced today with the slogan “Caspian Sea: Friendship and Regional Development Bridge ” According to a report from the Guilan Governor’s Office Public Relations, the meeting, focused on this slogan , started on Tuesday morning in Rasht.

 

The forum, initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran and approved by the Cabinet, has started with the participation of 5 governors from Iran and 7 governors from Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

The forum consists of a general panel and three specialized panels in the fields of economy and investment, transit and logistics, and environment and fisheries. These panels are being managed by senior national and provincial officials.

 

The attendance of the First Vice President, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Interior, the Special Representative of Iran for Caspian Sea Affairs, heads of environmental, fisheries, ports, and maritime organizations, as well as ambassadors from the Caspian bordering countries, has significantly increased the importance of this event.

 

During this forum, governors and official delegations from the coastal provinces of the five countries will discuss joint projects, ways to enhance transit and develop the North-South Corridor, boost port capacity, and establish trade agreements among provinces to strengthen economic, environmental, cultural, and tourism cooperation.

 

The forum also serves as a platform to enhance Caspian tourism, improve regional policy coordination, showcase the agricultural, industrial, and investment potential of coastal provinces, and organize joint trade fairs.
